The new Facebook privacy comes in a beta-test style, while they leave their official policy still openly available. After taking a look myself, I have to agree; the new privacy policy is written in a way that is much easier to understand. However, it is still A LOT to read, and I can’t imagine the common Facebook user would be bothered with going through such a huge series of privacy pages....

Reverse-engineering of Twitter code shows that the company is working on allowing Facebook-style reactions to tweets, beyond the current Like option. Six different emoji have been found … The discovery was the work of Jane Manchun Wong, who has made a name for herself reverse-engineering apps to find evidence of features that are being tested or considered for release. Apple has filed a trademark update that paves the way for a future Final Cut Pro subscription. Apple’s pro video editing software is currently a $300 one-off purchase, with all updates free of charge. But the company has just taken a step that would open up four potential new scenarios… Patently Apple spotted the update to the company’s trademark, adding the category “software rental.” As the site notes, this is a very specific step taken by Apple to extend the coverage of the trademark, so it doesn’t appear to be simply a standard move the company is taking to cover all the bases....

Facebook’s messaging lead has acknowledged that the Messenger app has become ‘too cluttered.’ The company’s VP of messaging products, David Marcus, promised a major simplification of the app this year … As The Verge notes, what started as a lightweight messaging app has been bloated with payments, customer service bots, gaming and ephemeral stories. Fallout 76 players have now gotten so angry at Bethesda they are protesting against the company inside its own game.
