Universal has released new posters for Fast & Furious 9, revealing John Cena’s character in the film. Over the course of nineteen years, Fast & Furious has evolved from a film series about illegal street car racing to a franchise about what’re essentially superheroes who save the world from mercenaries and cyber-terrorists. The property’s ensemble has only grown along with its scale, adding Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, Luke Evans, and Jason Statham to its universe while also bidding farewell to the late Paul Walker (who tragically died mid-way through production on Furious Seven)....

There seems to be growing consensus on the need for a US federal privacy law along the lines of Europe’s GDPR. There is now bipartisan support in Congress, with Republicans and Democrats alike in favor of legislation. They don’t, however, agree on the best way to go about it … Reuters reports on the conflict. In other words, the Democratic view is that Congress should give the FTC powers to make and enforce privacy rules, while the Republican view is that the legislative branch should create the rules, and the FTC should simply be empowered to enforce them....

FiftyThree’s drawing iPad app Paper has so far been pitched as a creative drawing tool, but the company now thinks it might have appeal for business presentations too. The latest version adds a Diagram tool that lets you create objects like shapes, arrows and lines, which the app keeps neat and tidy while retaining the hand-drawn look. Your roughly-drawn shapes get turned into neat versions automatically when the Diagram tool is selected, and you can drag shapes to move or duplicate them....

Facebook’s experimental projects group, referred to as the NPE Team, has released its latest application today. Dubbed Hobbi, the app is designed as a way to let you document your personal projects and hobbies. As TechCrunch explains, Hobbi takes many cues from Pinterest, but it goes much further. It’s designed to “help hobbyists organize photos of their own projects into themed collections.” For instance, you can create different themed collections for arts and crafts, recipes, cooking, and more....

According to several threads on the Apple Discussions forum (here, here and here), the iPad’s front camera locks up in the FaceTime app when attempting to establish a video call. It’s unknown how widespread the issue is, but it seems to be stemming from a software bug likely to be addressed with the next iOS release. According to users posting on the forum, the problem won’t go away until device is restarted....

After the recent update to Fallout 76 or maybe after reinstalling the game, there arises a bug that’s been troubling off the players lately. This concerns the launching of Fallout 76, where the game gets cut off and zoomed in your display. This is extremely frustrating, and players aren’t even able to witness the entire visual gameplay. Apple released the new Apple TV in the fall. Despite the clunkier fatter physical appearance, the new Apple TV 4 features better performance, a cool new Siri Remote touchpad and an App Store. The App Store unlocks unlimited potential for the Apple TV as a content platform: rather than waiting for content deals between Apple and the networks, TV channels can release their own apps as they please. The media and public have been making a lot of noise over the shortcomings of Apple’s new iOS 6 Maps app. Apple already responded to the criticism by telling customers it launched the “new map service knowing it is a major initiative” and “the more people use it, the better it will get.” While recent comments from one of Apple’s own mapping partners, Waze, pointed the finger at TomTom’s weak data sets as the source of the poor Maps experience, an expert in cartography said TomTom is “not the source of their [Apple’s] problems....

Facebook Messenger now lets you share 360-degree photos with your contacts. You upload them like any other photo, and the recipient can look around them simply by turning their mobile device from within the app … On desktop, you can click and drag. Facebook also says that you can share HD video, but this is for some odd reason limited to 720p rather than 1080p. Facebook may be trying to preserve bandwidth here, but I’m guessing most video clips shared in chat are going to be very short ones....

Facebook is rolling out a new security feature called Protect to many users of its iOS app. While the name might make unknowing users feel good about installing the associated free app, the Facebook owned VPN is designed to collect and analyze user data to “improve Facebook products and services.” As reported by TechCrunch, Facebook purchased the security software company Onavo back in 2013. It is the Facebook owned Onavo Protect iOS app that is linked to in the Facebook iOS app settings under the “Protect” label....

A Chinese national living in the US has been sentenced to 37 months in prison after being convicted of smuggling 40,000 fake Apple products into the country from China … The man pled guilty to the charges back in February. CNET reports that he made more than a million dollars from the scheme. According to the court documents, Li conspired with several others, through his company Dream Digitals, to smuggle and traffic over 40,000 “electronic devices and accessories, including iPhones and iPads” into the United States....

The cast of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has once again grown - this time adding two new actors in top-secret roles. Marvel Studios wrapped up a decade’s worth of storytelling earlier this year, concluding a huge 22-film saga with Avengers: Endgame. Garnering positive reviews, the film ultimately became the highest-grossing film of all time. The franchise shows no signs of stopping, however, with newly revealed details of Marvel’s Phase 4 plans and even elements of Phase 5 frequently emerging....

Facebook today has announced a new Featured Events capability that will make it even easier for users to find nearby ongoings right in the Facebook app itself. While Facebook already has support for Events, with 550 million people taking advantage of it each month, the company hopes that Featured Events will give more a more personalized experience. Featured Events is launching to iOS users in 10 U.S. cities and consists of the top “art, entertainment, family, festival, fitness, food & drink, learning, community, music, and sports events” in each city....
