We’ve been hearing rumors and seeing evidence about an Apple Tile-like device for tracking personal items. Now, with the release of iOS 13.2, we can confirm that this device will be called “AirTag”. A folder within the filesystem for the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system possibly confirms the name “AirTag” for the new device, which will be paired with a user’s iPhone just like AirPods and will allow users to track any item using the Find My app....

Facebook has constantly added new features to Messenger since it became a standalone chat app, and Live Location is the latest to join the list. Live Location lets Messenger users temporarily share an up-to-date location with friends and family. Apple offers similar location sharing features with other iPhone users through Find My Friends and Messages, but Facebook’s new Live Location feature in Messages works across both iOS and Android. Live Location works for up to one hour by default and updates in the background when activated....

Facebook recently went public with an awesome new feature called Timelime, a brand-new interface for profiles. That feature launched for the mobile web view of Facebook for iPhone but until today has not been available in Facebook’s native application on the App Store. Today’s Facebook app update for Mobile Timeline is iPhone and iPod touch exclusive, but Facebook is promising Timeline support on the iPad “soon.” Some other new features work across the iOS ecosystem, though, including Friends Lists, better photo management, and subscriptions support....

Days after the FBI announced that it had successfully unlocked the iPhone 5c used by one of the San Bernardino gunmen last December without Apple’s help, the Associated Press now reports that the FBI has agreed to help unlock another iPhone and an iPod relating to a homicide case in Arkansas. According to the report, the FBI has agreed to help an Arkansas prosecutor unlock an iPhone and iPod used by two teenagers who have been accused of killing a couple....

The fund was created to help subsidize the costs associated with bringing terrestrial and wireless broadband services to unserved and underserved rural communities across the US. It attracts carriers by providing additional funding to the construction of network extensions, enabling projects that would not be financially viable without its aid. The latest round of $1.2 billion in disbursements will be used to build out broadband infrastructure in 32 states. A total of 23 broadband providers are involved with this round, with a target goal of reaching more than 1 million new customers locations with broadband services....

The Quick Look feature in macOS has always been a particularly useful, albeit somewhat unremarkable feature in Apple’s desktop environment. Select any file in the Finder, hit the Space bar and boom, you get a quick look at the contents of the file without having to open it in a compatible app. I use it relentlessly. If you’re anything like me, this is incredibly convenient for previewing images, listening to audio files and getting a quick peak at documents/PDFs....

If you’ve been wanting to pay for your gas at ExxonMobile stations using Apple Pay, the good news is that you now can, reports CNET. But if you were expecting to just wave your iPhone or Apple Watch at a reader on the pump, that’s not quite how it works … Apple Pay went live Tuesday in more than 6,000 Exxon and Mobil-branded gas stations across 46 US states. The service will be added to about 2,000 more stores by mid-year and will be available in nearly all of the company’s 10,000 locations by the end of 2016....

Evidence suggests that Albus Dumbledore could have an Obscurus as well in the Fantastic Beasts movies. In 2018, David Yates’ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald introduced a younger Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) into the Harry Potter franchise, and it’s become clear that him and his family have become key parts of the Fantastic Beasts story arc. As the second installment in the Fantastic Beasts series, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald was naturally filled with exposition and even contained some surprising connections to the overarching Harry Potter franchise, such as Ezra Miller’s Credence Barebone being Ablus Dumbledore’s brother....

As Ferrari unveils its new 1 million euro “LaFerrari” hybrid, the company has also confirmed it plans to strengthen its partnership with Apple in the months to come. According to Bloomberg, Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero Di Montezemolo said the company is now “in talks with Apple about broadening a partnership on in-car entertainment.” Ferrari also said today that its new four seater FF coupe will come equipped with iPad minis:...

The upcoming book from Image Comics is the product of writer Johnnie Christmas (Angel Catbird), Jack T. Cole (The Unsound), and Jim Campbell (Giant Days), telling the story of an innocent daughter caught in the crossfire of her mother’s actions. Tartarus is a post-modern mix of African myth and tradition, following the daughter of a warlord framed by the military after her connection to her mother and legacy are discovered....

Ahead of the book’s first issue launching later this month, Screen Rant has an exclusive preview showcasing the interactive, behind-the-scenes plans Valiant has in store for the duo. Quantum and Woody originally debuted in Acclaim Comics Quantum and Woody series from Christopher Priest and Mark Bright. The 23-issue series ran from 1997 to 2000....

Facebook appeared to do something of a U-turn back in August, when it started collecting data from WhatsApp despite an earlier statement that its acquisition of the messaging app would not impact user privacy. It has now agreed to cease doing so in the UK after the government privacy watchdog warned it that it may be breaking the law, reports the FT.
