All of the female Avengers in Avengers: Endgame assembled for a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of the film. The Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes played a major role in taking down Thanos, but they found some downtime in between filming to pose with Avengers: Endgame’s directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, as well as one of the film’s producers, Trinh Tran.

During the epic finale of Avengers: Endgame, all of the women on Team Avengers - minus Black Widow, due to certain events that played out earlier in the film - organize a group assault against Thanos. They team up to assist Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) to retrieve the Infinity Stones, and though some viewed the scene as pandering fan service, others were more than happy to see the women of the MCU get the screen time they deserve. And, regardless of personal stances, as Hope Pym (Evangeline Lilly) says at the end of Ant-Man, “it’s about damn time” the MCU balanced gender representation in this franchise.

Now, Marvel Studios has shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Avengers: Endgame on Instagram featuring the all-female crew of the Avengers during the film’s finale battle. The photo includes Danai Gurira as Okoye, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts/Rescue, Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Pym/Wasp, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, and Karen Gillan as Nebula. The group is bookended by Tran and the Russos. Check out the image below:

Though there hasn’t been any official word on this happening, this scene in Avengers: Endgame certainly piqued fan interest in a potential film dedicated solely to an all-female Avengers team. While it’s already known that there will be a standalone Black Widow film, a TV series centered around Scarlet Witch, and inevitably a sequel to Captain Marvel, there hasn’t been any official word on something along the lines of an A-Force movie, in which the main characters are all women.

Until an A-Force movie is officially greenlit, fans can still enjoy the epic all-female fight scene in Avengers: Endgame. That said, it’s no doubt frustrating to some that Marvel Studios clearly - and unfortunately - wasn’t in a hurry to put a fair share of the focus on its female characters over the past ten years. Still, there’s no time like the present to make amends, and there will finally be balanced gender representation in the MCU before long.
