The Fear the Walking Dead season 5 midseason premiere, “Channel 4”, took the show in a completely new direction with a documentary-style episode. The midseason premiere skips forward in time and focuses on the group’s attempt to help a sick boy. In order to get the child medicine, the group has to get past a minefield.

“Channel 4” continues the theme of the season, which has been centered around the premise of helping people in need. Due to a brief time jump, everything that was set up in the Fear the Walking Dead season 5 midseason finale have already taken place. At the end of the finale, Logan (Matt Frewer) expressed remorse for his past actions and asked for their help in finding Polar Bear’s oilfields. It appeared that deciding what to do about Logan would be their next big challenge, but this dilemma was solved within the first few minutes of the premiere.

Morgan (Lennie James) and the others found the oilfields for themselves, turned on Logan, and left him stranded. But that meant Fear the Walking Dead’s story was going to go in another direction. Here are the questions that now need to be answered after Fear the Walking Dead season 5, episode 9, “Channel 4”.

4. Who Was The Man Watching The Tape?

Everything that happened in the episode was on a tape left for other survivors. One was found and watched by a brand new character, played by Colby Hollman, who is one of the new cast additions confirmed during SDCC 2019. Whoever he is, his name was not mentioned during his confrontation with Logan, who wrongly believed him to be one of Morgan’s people. Since his motorcycle was destroyed, he may have no choice but to do what Logan suggested and ask Morgan for help.

3. Who Is Painting The Trees?

An unknown character is painting uplifting messages on trees. This has piqued the interest of Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), who now wants to meet the mysterious person. Some believe that this person may be Alicia’s mother, Madison (Kim Dickens), even though her death in season 4 was confirmed by the showrunner last year.

2. Who Are The Other Survivors?

In the time that’s passed between the midseason finale and the premiere, Morgan and others have finally been able to do what they originally set out to do. They’ve been working tirelessly to help out other survivors and have even established a camp for everyone. However, the midseason premiere doesn’t introduce any of these characters, which could be because of the episode’s documentary-style format. It’s possible that these new survivors are being saved for a proper introduction in next week’s episode.

1. What Will Logan Do Now?

The group may have moved on and forgotten about their problem with Logan, but Logan has yet to do the same. Logan’s ominous warning to Colby Hollman’s character, about them making more enemies than friends, is a clear indication that Logan and his allies won’t be going away anytime soon. Logan will certainly be back, but how and when he intends to retaliate remains to be seen.
