A fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe created three posters for MCU films he hopes to see before 2025. Marvel’s Phase 4 release slate kicks off with Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson, due in theaters on May 1, 2020. Although the new phase of the MCU hasn’t even officially begun, fans are already discussing future film releases. With Marvel now owning the rights of the X-Men characters (thanks to a successful acquisition of Fox properties), MCU fans are eager to see the merry Marvel mutants get the MCU treatment.
A Reddit user named u/Wico90 hopes a new X-Men, Deadpool 3, and Excalibur are the next Marvel Comics properties Feige intends to bring to life on the big screen. Wico90 is so intent on seeing these three properties under the Marvel/Disney banner that he’s even created one-sheet posters for each of the three dream films. The artist takes a minimalist approach to the X-Men poster, opting for a large gold “X” inside a similarly colored circle. For Excalibur, the artist envisions a large sword wrapped in a billowing red cape. The Deadpool 3 poster has Disney’s name prominently displayed above the title, and an enormous number three in the center.
Currently, there are no official plans for any of the three films. Feige has stated he intends to introduce mutants into the MCU as supporting characters in other films before giving them a movie of their own. Deadpool 3 is a little more certain, but no official release date has been set. Excalibur is perhaps the biggest stretch of the three, as Marvel has given no indication of focusing an entire feature on the British mutant team.
So far, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has confirmed The Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, an untitled Spider-Man movie, and Thor: Love and Thunder will make up the entirety of Phase 4. Hopefully, news on Deadpool 3 and other mutant-focused Marvel Cinematic Universe films is coming soon.
