Avengers: Endgame fan-made posters reveal the fates of other Marvel Cinematic Universe characters following Avengers: Infinity War. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes were handed their first real defeat in last year’s Marvel event film when Thanos (Josh Brolin) successfully gathered all six Infinity Stones and used them to execute The Decimation - leaving half of life in universe dead. That includes some of the Avengers’ allies and beloved ones also disintegrating into dust. Now, the heroes are gearing up for another square off against the Mad Titan as they attempt to restore peace and order in the universe.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo with the story written by Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, plot details for Endgame are tightly under wraps. Disney’s marketing has been measured so as to not reveal any pivotal plot points that would give the public an idea how the film pans out for both the Avengers and Thanos. One thing’s for sure, however, the film’s main focus will shift back to the heroes after the Mad Titan got the majority of the spotlight in Infinity War. With that in mind, promotional materials are leaning towards the idea that the remaining characters are seeking to avenge those who have fallen - including a slew of character portraits depicting the fates of the upcoming movie’s key players. But some fans stepped it up, giving those who didn’t get a one their own posters.
Coming from a slew of sources online, including ones from Screen Rant, are several Endgame fan-made one-sheets for other MCU characters who may have also been affected by Thanos’ snap. The list includes Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Thor: Ragnarok’s Skurge (Karl Urban), as well as the Daredevil and the rest of Marvel/Netflix street-level hero. In light of the finished Disney’s acquisition of Fox acquisition, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine get their own posters too. Check them all out below:
Obviously, most of the unofficial posters were made for fun, but it also highlights just how many characters the MCU has had. Some of them like Sif (Jamie Alexander) and Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) from the Thor franchise fans haven’t seen in several years. Edward Norton, on the other hand, is a throwback to 2008’s The Incredible Hulk where he played Bruce Banner before the role got recast with Mark Ruffalo. For a time, many expected the Marvel/Netflix heroes to appear in Infinity War, but that obviously didn’t happen and with the cancelation of that whole slate, there’s no chance they’ll pop up in Endgame as well.
Things get a bit trickier with the mutants, however. Now that Disney owns Fox, Marvel Studios can incorporate anyone from Fox’s Marvel catalog in Endgame. They can even set their future up with the movie’s post-credit scene. But as fun as that would be, it’s best to hold off using them and focus on the original MCU characters considering that the movie is the culmination of their stories over the last decade.
As for the others ones who got fan-made posters, some of them could still appear in Endgame despite no official word from Marvel Studios regarding their statuses. Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) has already been featured in the trailers and it’s expected that Captain America’s (Chris Evans) upcoming arc will be tied to her. Whether or not she’ll physically appear in the film is another conversation, but at this point, it’s a given that she’ll somehow factor in the story. Coulson is another character that could make a cameo in the movie having ties to the core Avengers and Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). His fake death in 2012’s The Avengers is supposedly unknown to the Phase 1 heroes, although Gregg speculates that some of them might have an idea of what he and Nick Fury (Sam Jackson) had done.
With all the mystery surrounding Avengers: Endgame, fortunately fans won’t have to wait for long to find out. The film hits theaters all over the world in just a month.
