A brand new The Falcon and the Winter Soldier image ties the show to Black Panther’s post-credits scene. Marvel Studios’ first Disney+ series gets a release date push from this fall to August. With that, marketing for the show is expected to ramp up in the next few months, but before proper promotions even begin, Falcon and the Winter Soldier set images and social media posts from people involved are already giving fans an idea about what to expect from the project.

Much of what’s known regarding The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s story revolves around Sam Wilson’s (Anthony Mackie) new role as Steve Rogers’ chosen successor as Captain America. The casting of Wyatt Russell as John Walker aka U.S. Agent backs up rumors that the narrative will be about the government opposing this choice. However, as the show’s co-lead, it’s safe to say Bucky will also be prominently featured in the series, and be given his own arc. While Marvel Studios has yet to say something concrete about what his personal journey will be in the post-Avengers: Endgame series, a new post from Stan hints at the show’s ties to Black Panther’s stinger where he gets a new persona: White Wolf.

The actor recently took to his Instagram stories to share an image from the set of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It appears to be grimy window panels covered with various graffiti including the words “WHITE WOLF” splashed on the upper part of the frame. Check out the screenshot of Stan’s social media post below:

This reveal comes on the heels of Marvel Studios dropping their Disney+ trailer at this year’s Super Bowl where fans get their first look at The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as well as WandaVision and Loki. In the clip, viewers saw Bucky’s shorter hair (true to the previously released concept art and posters for the show) as he teams up with Falcon. The pair goes up against Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl), the mastermind behind the events of Captain America: Civil War, who’s tipped to be the big bad of the show. Stan has also posted the first official still from the upcoming series with Bucky and Sam, which was included in the trailer.

Since the confirmation of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, many have questioned whether or not it’s only a temporary title. After all, both Sam and Bucky technically have different alter-egos now - the former as Captain America after the events of Endgame, while the latter as White Wolf, which is the nickname given to him while he was rehabilitating in Wakanda. From the looks of it, Sam may have to fight for his right to assume the Captain America persona, but it’s always been a mystery why Bucky seemingly dropped his new nickname. It was never mentioned during the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame for obvious reasons. This latest reveal from Stan confirms that it will come into play during his personal arc in the show.

Does this mean that the show will feature Wakanda or even have a cameo from someone in the cast of Black Panther? It’s uncertain. Without any context for the photo, it’s difficult to gauge what’s happening. From what’s known, only the Wakandan people know Bucky as White Wolf, so it’s possible this image may have something to do with them. It’s also worth noting that the last time fans saw Zemo, he was being chastised by Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) for his Civil War shenanigans, who was a key player in the events of Black Panther. So, perhaps there could be some narrative ties between The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the film.
