Marvel’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will begin filming this week according to actor Sebastian Stan. The series will feature the aftermath of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) retiring and leaving his shield to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie). Showrunner Malcolm Spellman will write the six-episode series with Kari Skogland as director.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will focus on the lives of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes stepping up to the plate when Captain America is no longer around. Back in July during a podcast with Kevin Smith, screenwriter Marc Bernardin made comments about Sam’s storyline, saying the government does not want Sam to take over as the new Captain America and that this will be a focus of the show. Meanwhile, Bucky’s storyline will focus on him becoming the White Wolf and putting Winter Soldier behind him. The news that filming is about to begin was revealed by Bucky actor, Sebastian Stan at a recent convention appearance.
During a meet and greet panel at the Fandemic Tour in Houston, a fan asked Stan a question about Falcon and The Winter Soldier and his response confirms that filming is set to being on the Disney+ series this coming week. Sebastian Stan confirmed back in May filming would begin in October but did not give an official date. The video (via Twitter) features Stan answering the fan’s question can be seen below.
It was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 that Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan would be reprising their roles as Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes in Disney+‘s Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The two actors have previously appeared in a handful of Marvel Studios movies, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Ant-Man, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is among other Marvel titles such as Loki, WandaVision, and a Hawkeye mini-series coming to Disney+. Earlier this summer at D23 Expo, Marvel announced Emily VanCamp will be returning as Sharon Carter and Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent John Walker. Not to mention, the big bad villain for the series is the now comic-accurate Baron Zemo played by Daniel Brüh. Fans will get the chance to watch Sam and Bucky work together to take down this major threat when Falcon and The Winter Soldier comes to Disney+ next year.
