Eddie Redmayne is the face of Newt Scamander in the Fantastic Beasts film series, but the actor had a shot at playing another major character in the Harry Potter universe. The data reportedly being shared includes locations, interests and social groups … The Intercept says that the data sharing is as broad as it is deep. One application for the data suggested by Facebook may even be illegal. Facebook today announced a major update to its Automatic Alt Text (AAT) system, which automatically generates photo descriptions for people with visual impairments. Based on AI, the system can now recognize 10 times more objects and scenes in photos shared on Facebook and also Instagram, providing detailed descriptions for screen readers like Apple’s VoiceOver. According to Facebook, the artificial intelligence technology developed by the company can now identify activities, landmarks, types of animals, and various other details in the photos....

Just after its proposed $1 billion acquisition of mobile photo sharing service Instagram, Facebook announced Facebook Camera for iPhone in a blog post this afternoon.
