After 2 Fast 2 Furious opened to a mixed response (at time attributed to the loss of original Fast & The Furious star Vin Diesel), plans for the franchise briefly shifted to something more like an anthology series connected loosely by a shared theme of illegal street-racing. The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift was conceived as a standalone feature to launch the concept, following a troublemaking Alabama teenage racer (Lucas Black) and his “fish out of water” adventures after relocating to Japan and adjusting to not only a new culture but the Japan-centric racing style of “drifting” (and also a Yakuza turf-war, because reasons)....

Back in 1991, James Cameron concluded his original vision for The Terminator with T2: Judgment Day, which is widely celebrated as one of the greatest action movies of all time. Facebook announced today that it is adding over 1,500 new emoji to Facebook Messenger. The company made the announcement on the Messenger Facebook page, explaining that the new emoji bring a lot more diversity to the service. The new emoji are largely similar to what was added in iOS last year. Facebook, however, says that Messenger is the first platform to include “a female police officer, runner, pedestrian, surfer, and swimmer,” while it also notes that many more new, diverse emoji are still set to come in the future....

This seems a little too good to be true, but the FCC appears to have published photos of a gold iPhone X. Dated from last September and released earlier in April, these photos show an iPhone X unmistakably in an unreleased gold finish. The prototype device has rich gold stainless steel frame and a lighter gold glass back, which appears to match the gold shade seen in iPhone 8. More photos below …...

Earlier this year, a study from the Heart Rhythm Journal indicated that the iPhone 12’s MagSafe technology could deactivate pacemakers in certain situations. Apple addressed these concerns in a support document, and now, the US Food and Drug Administration has issued its own update on the matter. St. Jude medical announced today in a press release that its new wireless spinal cord stimulation trial system has been approved by the FDA. The system uses Bluetooth and pairs with iOS devices to provide control to the patient and doctor. This trial device allows patients to test out spinal cord stimulation treatment before having a permanent device implanted in their back.
