A new report from Digitimes citing supply chain sources indicates that Android phone makers are ‘rushing’ to implement fingerprint sensors under the display for upcoming handsets. Android manufacturers have decided that recreating the 3D facial recognition used by iPhone X is simply too costly to include, and are instead focusing on implementing Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint scanners. Last month, we reported on a proposal from the FCC that would give it more power to crack down on international robocalls and number spoofing. Now, the FCC has officially voted to approve those new rules. As detailed by CNET, the new regulations are part of the FCC’s multi-step approach to combat “the noxious intrusion of illegal robocalls, as well as malicious caller ID spoofing.” Previously, the FCC was only afforded power to take action against spoofing on a domestic basis, but now that power has been significantly expanded....

In another display of how native apps are beating the web, the social networking behemoth Facebook revealed intentions to launch its first native chat client for the Mac. Put simply, it brings Facebook to your desktop and lets you chat with people without logging into Facebook.com in a browser. The company posted Messenger app for iPhone in August 2011 and today released the Facebook Messenger for Windows client, bringing the Facebook Chat functionality to beige boxes....

Facebook has launched public beta testing of a new Q&A application called Hotline, as reported by TechCrunch. Hotline is a mashup of Clubhouse and Instagram Live. The web-based app allows creators to speak to an audience who can then ask questions by text or audio. Unlike Clubhouse, the host can remove inappropriate questions from the queue or remove people from their Hotline session. Square Enix recently revealed the redone opening cinematic for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, showcasing the remake’s extreme graphical upgrade compared to the original. Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s opening both recreates shots from the original and adds new ones, providing additional context to the game’s introduction. It’s been more than 23 years since the original Final Fantasy 7 released on the first PlayStation console. Instagram is planning to send 2FA codes on WhatsApp, according to the leaker and app analyst Alessandro Paluzzi. As for now, Instagram only allows Two-Factor Authentication through an Authentication app, text messages, login requests, and backup codes. While this feature is still in development, the leaker was able to show how it’s going to work: users must enable text message authentication to toggle on WhatsApp as a 2FA method.
