Apple has released the fifth tvOS 10.2.2 beta for Apple TV. The new tvOS beta allows developers who are registered with Apple’s developer program to test their apps on the upcoming software update for Apple TV. tvOS 10.2.2 beta follows the release of tvOS 10.2.1 which is the current public version. Both updates focus on bug fixes and security improvements and not new features. As for new features, Apple is also letting developers (and now public beta testers) run tvOS 11 beta ahead of its release later this fall....

Facebook announced today at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam some new features regarding its video capabilities. Publishers now have more tools to use with Facebook’s Watch Party and Creator Studio, such as detailed analytics, scheduled posts, and more. For Live Videos, the company will expand the features available to Facebook Pages to encourage live broadcasting by professionals on its social network (via TechCrunch). It will be easier to simulate and test broadcasts with Live API, which can be now restricted to that page’s team, including administrators and editors....

Facebook has announced today that it will no longer allow messaging in its main mobile application later this week. Instead, any users who wish to take advantage of the company’s messaging platform will have to do so through the standalone Facebook Messenger app. Earlier this year the comapany started informing some European users of the upcoming move to the separate app, but this is the first time a solid timetable has been set for the transition....
